By - Kris Fletcher

Brandon Wimberly, starting wide receiver for the Nevada Wolf Pack, was shot in the stomach early Saturday morning after a fight in downtown Reno.

Details are sketchy, but initial reports are that a group of Nevada football players got into an argument with another group of people. That group of people then got into a car, and when Wimberly approached the vehicle, someone in it shot him. The group fled the scene afterwards.

The Reno Police Department is currently conducting a full investigation into the matter.

Although his condition is being reported as serious, Wimberly's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

He was the WAC freshman of the year in 2009, and last season hauled in 41 balls for 482 yards.
