Flanagan's body was found Wednesday about 250 feet behind his home. An investigation revealed that the 59-year-old was upset about financial issues. He left no note.

As a member of the Baltimore Orioles, Flanagan won the 1979 Cy Young Award, and later help the team win the 1983 World Series.

Over an eighteen year career with Baltimore and the Toronto Blue Jays, he went 167-143 with a 3.90 earned run average.

The Flanagan family issued a statement: "We thank everyone for their support and kind words at this difficult time. Thank you for respecting our privacy as we grieve. A private memorial will be held at a later date."
