By - Kris Fletcher

Minutes ago, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander threw the second no-hitter in the big leagues this week. The Toronto Blue Jays were the victims, falling 9-0.

Verlander threw a total of 108 pitches. He struck out four while walking just one.

He actually had a perfect game going for 7 1/3 innings until J.P. Arencibia walked on a close pitch at the end of a 12-pitch at-bat. The following hitter, Edwin Encarnacion, bounced into a double-play.

In the 9th, David Cooper led off with a popup to second baseman Scott Sizemore. Next, John McDonald grounded out to Sizemore. Rajai Davis then struck out swinging to end the game.

Verlander becomes the 25th pitcher in Major League Baseball history to throw more than one no-hitter in his career. He no-hit the Milwaukee Brewers back in 2007.
