Ervin Santana No-Hits Indians

By - Kris Fletcher

Earlier today Anaheim pitcher Ervin Santana tossed the third no-hitter in the majors this season, as the Angels defeated the Cleveland Indians by a final of 3-1.

He threw a total of 105 pitches, striking out ten while walking just one.

Santana quickly took care of business in the ninth inning to complete the gem. He got pinch-hitter Travis Buck to strike out looking, retired Ezequiel Carrera on a routine grounder, and ended it by getting Michael Brantley to fly out to center.

It was the first no-hitter thrown at Progressive Field, a ballpark that opened as Jacobs Field back in 1994.

The last pitcher before Santana to hold the Indians hitless was Jim Abbott of the New York Yankees back on September 4th, 1993.
