Dan Uggla Stays Red Hot

By - Kris Fletcher

At this moment, Dan Uggla is the hottest hitter in baseball. Not really what most would expect coming from a guy who was hitting just .174 a month ago.

In his first 86 games, Uggla had 12 home runs and 29 runs batted in. During his current 26-game hitting streak, he's batting .350, with 11 homers and 25 RBI. Those are some pretty impressive numbers to say the least.

"The first couple months, I was hitting the ball hard but had some awful, awful luck," Uggla told Fox Sports. "You stay positive, keep grinding out some at-bats, get a couple to fall through, get a little confidence going and keep going from there. It was just a matter of time. There was never a point that I believed what was going on the first couple of months was going to continue."

His career-best hitting streak is the longest by a Braves player since Marquis Grissom put together a 28-game run back in 1996.

I'm proud to say that I grew up playing baseball with Dan and his older brother Mike in my hometown of Columbia, Tennessee. To see him have success at the Major League level and be on the type of run that he's been on in the last month really comes as little surprise to me. He's always been an exceptional talent.

It's just cool that those talents currently have him front and center of the baseball universe.

  3. Uggla was an ass back in the day. Thought he was better then everyone else. Probably still does, so I hope his streak ends sooner rather then later.

  4. I'm assuming you're an entirely different "anonymous" from the first one that left a comment on here.

But anyway, I never got that impression when I was around him. Maybe it was just YOU.
