The eighteen-year Canadian Football League veteran eclipsed the 72,381 yard record set by Damon Allen back in 2007. It was the third time this season that Calvillo broke one of Allen's records against the retired QB's former team. Calvillo also set new marks for touchdown passes and completions earlier this year.

Entering Monday's contest, Calvillo needed 258 yards to break the record. He ended up with 305 yards, completing 23 of his 39 attempts.

Montreal won the game 29-19, clinching a playoff spot in the process.

The 39-year-old, who has yet to decide if he will return next season, also passed the 4,000 yard mark for the tenth consecutive year.

  1. How does he compare to Brett Favre?

  2. While at this point Calvillo has thrown for about 1,500 more yards than Favre did, I would say there's still no comparison really.

Favre got all his in the NFL, while Calvillo got his in the CFL.

But, since both leagues are considered professional football, Calvillo is still technically the record holder.
