Q&A With NFL Newcomers: The Jerrell Harris Interview

By - Tim Gorman

We're starting a new segment here at The Bleacher Briefings entitled "Q&A With NFL Newcomers."

In it, I'm going to be conducting interviews with National Football League rookies, to give fans a look into the players' mindset as they prepare for the biggest year of their young lives.

I was recently able to get a hold of former Alabama linebacker Jerrell Harris, who signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons.

Here's how the interview went down.

Q: Any personal information about yourself that people may not know that you would like to share?
A: I'm a well-rounded and driven young man trying to make the most of everyday.

Q: What was your college experience like and what did it teach you?
A: My college experience was a blessed one. I was coached by one of the best coaches in the game in Nick Saban, and also accomplished something that most people will never achieve -- two National Championships.

Q: What is your most memorable experience in any sport at any level?
A: Winning the National Championship my senior year at Alabama.

Q: What is one thing that someone has told you that you'll never forget?
A: Hard work always beats talent when talent doesn't want to work hard.

Q: How was your overall draft experience?
A: It was a crazy roller coaster ride because of the anxious feeling to hear your name called, but my blessings came after the draft. Signing as a free agent with the Falcons.

Q: In high school, what all positions did you play?
A: Just linebacker.

Q: Do you have a particular motto you live by?
A: Yes -- "My belief is stronger than their doubt."

Q: What do you think will be going through your mind the first time you take the field?
A: Just to enjoy the moment.

Q: What role do you look to play in your first year with Atlanta?
A: Simple -- just make an impact on the team and help them in any way I can.

Q: Lastly, what are you most looking forward to as the season nears?
A: Making my mother proud, and just running out of the tunnel knowing how far I've come to get where I'm trying to go.
